History of the Edmonton Intercultural Centre
The Edmonton Intercultural Centre is an important space to meet the need for intercultural community connections in the city of Edmonton. The goal is to co-locate organizations supporting work in the field of multiculturalism. Creating Hope Society, the Multicultural Health Brokers Cooperative Ltd., the Edmonton Multicultural Coalition, Centre for Race and Culture, the Intercultural Child & Family Centre, Changing Together, the Chinese Cultural Promotions Society, Multicultural Family Resources Society, and Africa Centre are housed in the old McCauley School site.
Through the provision of programs, research, education and opportunities for community engagement, these nine partners create a welcoming and nurturing venue for the different kinds of engagement that people are yearning for across cultures, neighbourhoods, and communities.
The McCauley School is an iconic building, welcoming, supporting and responding to the needs of an increasingly diverse community. It has long been at the heart of First Nations and immigrants communities in Edmonton.
